When determining the size needed for their products, we have many customers asking us how to measure Reclosable Zip Bags and our Drawstring Pouches. Below we will break each style of bags and pouches down to how to determine the correct size and how it’s measured.
On size, it’s really one rule fits all. Always purchase a bag or pouch that is larger than the product you are putting into it. For thicker products a good rule of thumb is to add ½” to the width. Thicker or bulkier products would require somewhat more width, up to 2 inches on very bulky products. On length, purchase a bag or pouch that is larger than your product as you need to have room to maneuver the zip or drawstring closed at the top. Again the thicker or bulkier the product the more length space is needed and thus bag size needs to increase.
To measure the length of Reclosable Zip Bags and Slider Bags you simply have to measure up to the zip itself. The lip at the top is not measured.
Same goes for Organza Pouches and Satin Drawstring Pouches, measure up to the drawstring, do not measure above it.
However, and there always seems to be a however, if measuring Velour Drawstring Pouches or Peruvian Pouches the length is measured to the top, above the drawstring.
Hopefully this helps you determine the right size bags and pouches for your products so you can package correctly and go about your business of selling your products.
