The start of a New Year: clean slate, new ideas, new promotions, new products and more sales.  Those are a business persons goals.  However cleaning out the old is necessary before working on the new.  By that we mean products and displays that you need to clear out to run a successful business.

Slow selling and out of season products need to be discounted or completely closed out.  Truly slashing prices and advertising closeouts will move these products.  Excessive inventory needs to be reduced as you free up cash when you do this.  It’s all about cash flow.  Turn that cash into new and different products, store remodeling and new displays.

Replace old counter displays and go for a new look with different styles of countertop displays.  If you sell jewelry, replace your old jewelry displays for jewelry displays with a newer fresher look.  One that will draw the customers eye to your product.  Use colors, whether it’s colored bags you give the customer or jewelry boxes in colors.  Brighten the look.  Remember, bright colors makes the customer upbeat, dull depresses customers.  Which customer would you prefer?  Which customer will purchase more?

Even when it comes to music in your store, literally go upbeat.  Upbeat is not loud, it’s just music to get the moods of the customers positive.

Throughout the new year keep your ideas and products fresh, new and upbeat.  Old looking displays or products have a negative effect on your products and store.  Keep it new and organized.
